our Advice :)
When it comes to high-school, we all struggle with various challenges that life throws at us. The main one is being more involved, with classmates, activities, and so on. Branching out and trying new classes or joining clubs is really how you can find new experiences with others. Taking classes you haven't before can bring you closer with classmates who you might not normally meet in any other setting. The projects and classwork you do in groups help you meet everyone else. Joining clubs is also another option. Clubs focus on their certain interest and if you keep joining different clubs that meet your own interest, there will always be people who share that similarity with you. That is why they joined that club as well, to meet others who share their same appeals. Even though it may seem like you can't find someone who is compatible with you, there will be a time, you will find someone or a group. Don't worry.
At times you may feel that you have to act a certain way but trying to be someone else is more work than just being yourself. People notice whether someone is being their genuine selves and if you are your true self you will attract what you put out. You will find new friends along the way, there are always people like you and its only a matter of time before you find your group of friends. Get to know your classmates, you'll be graduating with them in four years and trust me it goes by in a flash. But making new friends isn't a priority, it'll definitely help making new memories and making your time together enjoyable. Focus on yourself throughout these next four years and do what is best for you. Discover new interests and how to keep your grades up all while having fun.
School by itself can be stressful enough but with extracurricular activities it can get even more overwhelming. A lot of kids struggle with finding the right balance between their school work and outside hobbies. A lot of kids go into high school thinking they need to be the best at everything, get a perfect GPA and SAT scores, and be involved in a lot of clubs or sports in order to get into a good college. This is only partly true. While good grades and being involved in your school is important, you need to take time for yourself and to make sure you are healthy. Especially here at Santa Susana students take on a lot of AP classes early on and end up using up all their energy in the first few years of high school and then they burn out. Once again, taking AP classes and pushing yourself is a good thing but only to a certain extent. Make sure you take on classes that you know you can handle, ask people that have taken the class you're thinking about and decide if it's manageable for you. School is important but don't spread yourself too thin because you aren't a robot, you're human, so enjoy your time here while it lasts.
